The friend in first class claims he is first class,
And then I have a friend who is actually first class!
What determines a good friend lies in the merit of his actions,
And that's where one's friendship begins to gain some traction!
A true friend stands a class apart, not just someone who shouts, "FIRST CLASS"!
This was written for a friend who wanted to crystallize his thoughts into five lines. He was telling me about a story where a so-called friend of his let him down, and another who stood up for him. In the first case the narrator and his friend were traveling by aircraft whereupon the friend said he will try and get an upgrade. He came back excited to show that he got himself an upgrade to first class. The narrator was left behind in the economy class.
In the second story the narrator was far away on business and was in grave threat of losing his girlfriend because he was traveling on her birthday. The narrator's friend took the trouble and entertained the narrator's girl friend to a fine evening complete with roses, dinner and dance. All in the name of the narrator. The girl friend was thrilled!
Both stories unfolded one after the other. The narrator was leading his audience to believe that the second friend may at any time run off with his girlfriend. But these things do not happen in true love! I am happy to say that the story had a happy ending.
